The Kennel Technician/Dog Handler is responsible for the supervision of the daycare/animals in enrichment programs/activities and is ideally trained and highly proficient in bathing and brushing dogs. Must have at least one year of previous professional experience working with dogs. Must have experience and comfort working with all-size dogs. The Kennel Technician has shown a pattern of reliability, proficiency, and enjoyment training dogs using positive reinforcement and gained valuable experience working in various positions in a dog care facility. The Kennel Technician is able to guide junior team members in their development, imparting knowledge gained from their own experience. The Kennel Technician is able to operate independently requiring little or no direct supervision. The Kennel Technician must present a professional image and feel comfortable talking to owners about their dogs.
Minimum Experience:
- 1-2 Years Experience Providing Animal Care in a Professional Setting (Not In-Home)
- Proven Ability to Engender Trust and Positive Response From Dogs
- Good Understanding of Positive Dog Training and Pack Behavior
- Proven Leadership and Staff Training Skills
- High School Graduate or GED Preferred
- Good Oral and Written Communications Skills
- Previous Work Experience Demonstrating Dependability
- Self Motivated and Independent
- Ability to Follow Instructions and Learn New Things
- Ability to Work in a Team Environment
- Demonstrated Flexibility
Job and Equipment Requirement:
- Must be able to Read, Write, and use a Computer, 2 Way Radio, and Camera
- Must be able to Lift and Carryover 25 Pounds, Bend, Stand, Hear, See, Go Up and Down Stairs and Walk
- Must be Able to Communicate Professionally on the Phone
- Must Complete and Pass in House Training Program
- Access to a Car Necessary
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $12.00 - $13.00 per hour
